I will discuss two properties making a deterministic algorithm suitable to generate a pseudo random sequence of numbers: high value of Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy and high-dimensionality. The multi dimensional Arnold's cat map is proposed as a pseudo-random number generator using both these mechanisms. Testing and comparisons with other generators will be presented.
